Friday, May 2
The hike was brutal.  The temperature was 94 degrees and no shade.  I ran out of water and had to be really, really careful.  This is where I stopped to have lunch- it was the only shade I could muster.  I hiked 11 and 1/2 miles.

Desert blooming!

My home on the trail.  Super light and easy to set up.  This is the tent without the rainfly.

Andy is dining at Carmen's in the town of Julian.  He wasn't eating his dry food so the friendly waitress had the chef jazz it up! Then he was happy and Moira was relieved!

Her's where we re-calibrated and rested before the next 2 day hiking days.  The pack weight has been reduced and then loaded back up with water- about 10 liters total.  The plan is to get to Barrel Springs by 5pm on Monday, May 5 and be greeted by Moira and Andy with more water!!
