Sunday, May 4 and Monday, May 5
I hiked 13 miles on Sunday and 11 miles on Monday
My pack was light, I wore my sneakers so it was much easier. My boots are heavy in the heat. It wasn't that hot either which made it better going.
I didn't see too many people on the trail. I camped out on Sunday night and it was fine. I was up and on the trail by 8am. Moira picked me up around 2pm on Monday.
Explorer duck is not fooled by the sign changed to the new PCT logo...it was changed this year to emphasize that is a National Scenic Trail. I have a sneaky suspicion we will see more of her!
I reached the 100 mile mark!! I added the smile just before I leapt over it!
I heard another rattle, this one I heard before I saw him about three feet off the trail.
These barrel cactus are everywhere in the Anza Borrego Desert State Park, which the trail cuts through. They look like something in Josh's salt water tank.
Mile post 78-100 in the San Felipe Hills looks like this...the slopes are rocky, dusty and steep...
and then breathtaking wild flowers appear among the rock ledges.
